Take it to the Bridge – Hebden’s Pop Choir

We need you!

Hebden Bridge’s very own pop choir, TAKE IT TO THE BRIDGE, is BACK for 2020 and we’re looking for dedicated singers.

Are you an ex-band member? A sing-in-the-showerer? Do your eyes get a little misty at the thought of mixtapes and fanzines? Is there a yard of dog-eared 12”s in your sitting room? WE NEED YOU.

Take it to the Bridge sing 80s and 90s pop hits in glorious four-part harmony. No backing tracks or beatboxing – just great a cappella singing.

You don’t need to read music – you’ll be learning your part by ear. You don’t need a stunning voice – this is about the group sound, not soloists and stars. Just bring your ears and your enthusiasm, and be prepared to work hard for twelve weeks (we like homework).

We need singers of all voice types and genders.

Find out more about the choir here, get answers to your burning questions on the FAQcontact us to show you’re interested, and ‘like’ our Facebook page to keep updated about songs and plans.

All we wanna do is see you… Don’t you know that it’s true.

A day of engagements with topography, history and folklore.

In contemporary society, place and landscape often seem to be treated as a passive backdrop, at best a canvas or resource for self-assertion such as tourism or ‘active leisure’. Its role in our personal lives often only becomes apparent retroactively, as human-centred nostalgia or biography.

Yet place is the foundation of culture from prehistory to the present, continually affecting our lives both socially and individually. Our presenters aim to convey place and land as an active presence, and have sought routes through the labyrinths of their own relationship with landscape – today they report back to us through word, image and music.

Foundation
A 5Rhythms® Workshop with Erik Iversen
We balance ourselves over our magic feet. They provide us with the only source of contact with the ground while walking. In this workshop we’ll investigate our body’s relationship to our feet and establish a new relationship to gravity – the feeling of having our feet under us. We’ll explore proprioception, sensations and balance. We’ll also experience the liberating energy of conscious breathing.
With the 5Rhythms as a guide, we’ll awaken the deep life force flow of energy. We’ll awaken and balance the intelligence in the heart and the “guts” to increase our movement language and our creativity as a whole being. Moving and dancing, we’ll discover our foundation for playful presence in the moment as well as a new story about being creative and at home in our bodies.
No previous experience is required.

TREEgeneration
BrightSky’s non-profit events have at their core an intention for personal, communal and ecological regeneration.

TreeGeneration events are community events that celebrate the remembrance of nature as our true nature. When we support the earth to heal herself, we heal ourselves. When we heal ourselves, we are the earth healing herself. When we come together to listen to the land and plant trees, we are breathing into the dream of a healthier and more abundant future for our children and all life yet to come.

THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE TREES is a diverse collective of dedicated people from all walks of life with a shared dream. We have been kindly crowdfunded to the tune of £2000 and we are so grateful for all donations!

We will plant each sapling as a blessing to the earth with the medicine of our love and gratitude. We will give thanks to our ancestors and express our hopes and wishes for those yet to come.

Together we will pray for the healing of the Earth, and that we may all live in right relationship with ourselves, each other and our planet. Joining hearts, voices and drums, we’ll send out our prayer like an arrow to the cosmos!

This is the first of many missions, and we are forming connections with different landowners and communities where we can continue this work. We hope our work to plant hundreds will soon grow into hundreds of thousands! We want to inspire others to do the same, across the UK and internationally.

November 2019 events

Samhain Circle Gathering

Saturday, 2 November 2019 from 11:00-14:00

Hosted by Roots and Resonance

The Festival of the Ancestors & Letting-go, this experiential workshop honours the Celtic festival of Samhain (the roots of modern-day Halloween!) – the final of 3 harvest festivals that make up the 8-festivals of Northern Wheel of the Year. Find connection, peace & wildness whilst honouring the ancestors during this ancient autumnal festival.

Guided by Sarah Fay, Ancient Ways Practitioner & Seer, using practices grounded in local landscape & seasonal folklore. This ceremonially-held workshop will include: co-creation of Altar for The Ancestors (human, animal, ecological), rhythm-making with percussion and a guided drum-led inward journey for self-discovery and deep relaxation.

We will encounter The Shadow through ecstatic movement & dance in darkness, to an atmospheric playlist. This will allow you to release what moves through the body in a sensory (accessible) journey, with no experience necessary. The movement / dance will be of a improvised nature, in a nurturing atmospheric space for you to move as little or as much as you feel. This is an ancient practice that will be supported by ceremony and the music. You will “dance in the darkness” to experience sensory enhancement (with a blindfold and safe space to move in), to honour the turn of the wheel into the darker time of the year.

Whether you seek magic, mystery, wildness or release with a nurturing gentle pace – all is welcome and will be safely guided.

Booking: **please email Sarah to book your place via payment**
Investment: £25 / £15 low-income (limited allocations)
Sarah: rootsandresonance@gmail.com
Venue: the downstairs yoga Studio at the Birchcliffe Centre, Hebden Bridge.
**Refund policy: refunds are unavailable after the 20th October, as places are limited for these popular circles**

Co-created inclusive sacred space. Use of sound & gentle movement to alter consciousness and bring us into the present moment. The ancient practice of a guided drum-led inner journey, for personal insight, healing and deep relaxation. Optional and respectfully-held sharing in small groups, alongside time for personal journalling / reflection

Light refreshments & seasonal herbal teas and a beautiful comfortable venue with blankets & yoga mats available…

These circles are a celebration of collective & individual diversity of life experience and beliefs. This includes and celebrates folks of all genders including women, men, gender fluid, trans and LGBTQI+ folk, adults of all ages and heritages, individuals with varied abilities (please let me know of any access requirements or sensory needs I can support you with before the event), those with religious beliefs or spiritual practices – and those with none. Quite often we make money decisions based on a false idea of how much money we “think” we have….meaning we perceive we don’t have enough or we believe that if we spend now that we might not have enough left over for the future so we are continuously in a fight, flight or freeze mode around money. Humans have been evolving for millions of years, but money has been used by everyone on the planet for a mere 300 years. In evolutionary terms, our bodies, hearts and minds have not caught up and integrated the concept of money. There is a separation. We can change and speed up the integration process through movement.

One of the many reasons we have money challenges is because we have not learned to manage our personal energy. Explore your relationship to money and dance through the 8 Money Archetypes: Innocent, Victim, Warrior, Martyr, Fool, Creator/Artist, Tyrant and Magician. We will transform greed into generosity, hatred into love, confusion into clarity, and boredom into opportunity.

No previous experience is required in order to participate in this transformative workshop. This workshop counts towards 5R Teacher Training electives pre-requisites.

Evangelos is a 5Rhythms® movement teacher, coach and meditation teacher with a passion for integrating the path of awakening through art and business. As well as being a certified master money coach and visionary social entrepreneur, Evangelos regularly mentors people on the art of integrating the spiritual path with a financially balanced material life. He regularly teaches across Canada, Asia, Europe and the Americas. www.meditationmoves.ca

This Seasonal Circle & Guided workshop experience, the 7th of 8 festivals that honour the ancient Northern European Wheel of the Year, welcomes you to this festival of balance. The beginning of “root energy” in the landscape, the doorway to winter and a time of great harvest, fruiting & seed-gathering.

What are you fruiting and harvesting in your life now? What intentions do you wish to carry into the winter time? What beauty and abundance do you wish to celebrate in a co-created and powerful ceremonial space? This co-created circle with guided workshop-style elements will bring peace, connection, healing and a deep re-wilding of the body & soul! A conscious experience outside of our busy lives to honour the seasonal changes in self & environment.

Booking: **please email Sarah to book your place via payment, as these circles are popular and have limited places**
Investment: £25 / £15 low-income
Venue: the downstairs yoga Studio at the Birchcliffe Centre, Hebden Bridge.

Sarah Fay, Seer & Ancient Ways Practitioner, will warmly guide you through a portal of regenerative and nourishing autumnal ritual & inclusive ceremony. These practices combine nature connection techniques with deep trance-state drum-led journeying and practices grounded in the local landscape & story. Here, we will explore alongside our personal journeys and connection with this season, the ancient Celts’ understanding of Mabon; the ancient name for this Autumn Equinox festival, and honour their gift of the Ogham sticks – an ancient divinatory language to bring wisdom and deep connection to the plants & trees of the land…some ancestral magic will be with us!

Alongside the above, in this Circle we will:
Co-created inclusive sacred space
Use sound & gentle movement to alter consciousness and bring us into the present moment – for deep healing & insight
The co-creation of a collective Autumnal Altar, connecting us with seasonal plants, colours, energies, and weaving in personal contributions of gratitude to create a truly unique experience
Conditions permitting – will include a nature connection practice in the beautiful early autumn Nutclough woods, honouring the “rooting” energy in the landscape, and deep within ourselves
The ancient practice of a guided drum-led inner journey, for personal insight, healing and deep relaxation
Optional and respectfully-held sharing in small groups, alongside time for personal journalling / reflection
A guided nature-based ritual craft activity to help bring your experiences into the present and take blessings and intentions with you home, and into the rest of autumn…

Light refreshments & seasonal herbal teas and a beautiful comfortable venue with blankets & mats available…

Please note my low-income allocations and email if you would like one, or have concerns around personal finance and are drawn to this experience.

I welcome questions around accessibility or how to make the venue and experience comfortable for individual needs. Please email me any questions or suggestions: rootsandresonance@gmail.com
