The Hebden Bridge Zen group are a Soto Zen group who meet regularly to sit together here in Hebden Bridge. We also organise talks, plus day and residential retreats with visiting teachers – these always involve tea and cake!

We’re an open friendly collection of folk and our door is always open to anyone who wants to meditate with us and our squishy cracked-head Buddha 🙂

Wednesday Evenings (at Blessingway, Birchcliffe Centre)
Door open at 7.15pm
7.30 – 8.00 zazen
8.00 – 8.10 kinhin
8.10 – 8.40 zazen
8.40 – 8.50 service (chanting)

We practice in Soto Zen form but you are welcome to do your own meditation practice. On Wednesday evening we practice a traditional Zen form and finish the evening with a service consisting of one or two chants, often followed by the Refuge Prayers.  Whilst we don’t have a resident Zen teacher, there will often be someone who will be able to offer basic instruction on how we meditate if you are completely new to Zen practice.

If this sounds daunting, don’t worry, feel free to give Rebecca a call on 07970 425 932 for a chat about it. For  more information click HERE

Mixed Level Mat Classes

Suitable for all levels including beginners and those returning to Pilates after a break. These classes focus on the mat repertoire and exercises that can be adapted using the small equipment and props. We will work on developing your strength, stability, and coordination to create functional movement habits and balanced, improved posture.

Studio Equipment Classes

Studio equipment classes provide an opportunity to use the full equipment within a group setting. The equipment can add challenges and assistance that the mat work can’t.. There is a maximum of four people at a time. In these classes we use a mixture of mat and equipment exercises to develop and progress towards your own personal goals.

To attend a studio equipment class you must have attended an initial 1-2-1 consultation and a follow up 1-2-1 on the equipment.

Post Natal Pilates Courses

Post Natal Pilates runs as a course.  This course is for mothers who are looking to build an understanding of their bodies since having their babies. Mothers can attend from when their babies are 6 weeks until the age of 8 months. The sessions will focus on using a full body approach to improve strength, core control and improve pelvic floor function . Courses run throughout the year. To sign up for this course or for more information  email the studio:
